Twilight Tots

Mason and I started a mommy and me class. It meets on Monday from 6:45 to 7:30, and is for 1 to 3 year olds. Nicki had this bright idea to enroll Mackenzie, so I joined with Mason. Theoretically the kids (1-3 year olds, remember), are to put the star with their name on it on the wall, sit and listen to a story, sit at a table and eat a snack, make an art project, then play. All of this is to be done with your mommy.

Well, with Mason it went like this: Throw the star, sit on Nicki's lap, get up and throw the star at people while the poor lady is reading, move your chair to the table Nicki is sitting at and leave mommy alone, eat some snack, throw some snack, steal snack from other kids', scream through the art project, and run around throwing balls at people. I actually paid for this abuse.

Seriously, he moved his chair FROM me to sit next to Nicki. I only got him back with the Cheerios they were giving as a snack.

This is Mason trying to get away from me:

He did make a couple of games up. One's called, "Throw the yarn ball into the cubbie until it sticks." Hours of entertainment!
The other is, "Stick your head in a bucket."

Oh, Mackenzie also got into Nicki's purse and got out two dollars. Guess she wanted cab money.

Sleepy, again

So I guess that Nicki's house is so much fun it just wears my poor little man out.

Good Job Starkey

Starkey had a competition on Saturday and did a great job. It was a full Raw meet, meaning that he squatted, dead lifted, and benched without any shirts or extra equiment that "helps." He totaled 1,380 pounds and won his division and won best overall. He makes us very proud!
We all had matching shirts. I would have more pictures, but I was also watching the kids.

Sleeping Baby

Nicki just sent this to me. I guess this is how he fell asleep at her house. What a sweetie. Notice the blankie in his hand!

Beautiful Day

We were blessed with beautiful weather today. The mornings have cooler than I would like, but I guess it's that time of year. The kids and I went outside for a little bit to enjoy the fresh air. Casey is loving school. She talks about it all night. It's amazing how much she has learned already. Mason is getting 3 molars and has a touch of a cold. He loves going to Nicki's. I guess he and Mackenzie are a real team.

We miss you Gran!

For those of you that don't know, we lost Gran in July. It was right before mom and dad left, and it was very quick. I wanted to do a tribute, but thought that I didn't have a good picture. Then I came across these.
Gran was my dad's grandmother, so my children's great-great grandmother. And that is what she was. She was a beautiful southern lady who put on make up everyday, chewed tobacco, loved Elvis, hummed Amazing Grace, and had an infectious laugh. She would always ask, "How ya perkin?" She is very much missed.
Casey also thinks Gran is somehow in charge of the weather and gets a little mad at her every time it rains. Poor Gran!

Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day to all! We went to the parade this morning. After 2 hours, 5 pounds of candy, and no major meltdowns, we had a great time. Casey loved the candy and Mason just sat and watched everything. I wish there was a parade everyday!

Casey says she misses you grandma, see you at Halloween!
